My name is Captain James Newman, I am the Officer Selection Officer for
the Marine Corps covering all colleges in Long Island, Staten Island,
Brooklyn and Queens. We offer an opportunity to attend one of the
premier leadership and management institutes in the nation, Marine Corps
Officer Candidate School.
Marine Corps Officer Candidate School is not your typical internship;
we will challenge you mentally and physically. The reward is a lifetime
knowing that you led the Few, the Proud, the Marines.
Officer Candidate Course (OCC)
- For college seniors and graduates
- A 10-week course in Quantico, VA
Platoon Leadership Class (PLC)
- Freshmen and sophomores attend two six-week training sessions over
two summers
- Juniors attend one 10-week summer training session
Upon successful completion, we offer you the privilege to commission as
a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. There is no obligation during
the school year and no obligation until graduation, at which time you
accept a commission into the United States Marine Corps or decline the
commission and owe nothing. You will be paid during your time at Officer
Candidate School, and there are programs that provide tuition and
financial assistance during the year. If you are interested in getting
