According to a
new product listingon Amazon France,
Gran Turismo 5will be joining the PlayStation 3′s “Platinum Range” less than one year after its release,
on October 5, 2011.
“Platinum” games are the PAL-territory equivalent of the “Greatest Hits” collection in North America, featuring special packaging and a significantly reduced price. Amazon France lists the Platinum edition of the game at €24.98, a 37% reduction of its current price of €39.54. Notably, all previous major
Gran Turismoreleases have attained “Platinum” status, including
Gran Turismo PSPand
GT5 Prologue.
As with any retailer release date, October 5 is most likely only a placeholder (another title, LittleBigPlanet 2, is
also listedto go Platinum on that date). The timing, however, would likely not be a coincidence, with the launch of
