我认为这句话是指那些人对他们自己会被杀掉的命运持一种鸵鸟般视而不见的态度，而不是用来修饰前文中的plans和hopes。

确实不是指plans和hopes的，mob of them with plans and hopes的主语是mob of them，之前我六楼的翻译这里应该断句
另外这里的turning away和closing是与knowing并列的定语，是说掌握他人生死却同时将对方蒙在鼓里的意思，而鹅没有知情的选择权，最后那个them能说明

我认为turning away和closing与最开始的knowing并不是并列的，因为动词的主体不一样，turing away和closing的主体是蝼蚁，而knowing的主体是按按钮的人。

另外closing their eyes在此处翻译为被蒙蔽双眼我认为不妥，应含有绥靖之意，主体应该是蝼蚁。

杂家杂谈。

turning前面有个and，请问如何与蝼蚁产生并列关系？
另外，他们在这里谈论拉蝼蚁入坑，蝼蚁们能知道吗？既然不知道当然不知情，那就谈不上蝼蚁们自己逃避和闭眼、选择对自己生死视而不见了

turning前面确实有一个and，但是结合台词来看，从126段到128段很明显均是在描述“the mob of them”的，他们有plans and hopes，他们生来就是等着被murdered，且安于视被murdered的命运于不见。

所以结合台词来看，我认为这个and在这里连接的是蝼蚁们必死的命运与它们对此的态度，起了一个强调甚至嘲讽的作用，而并不能单纯地认为是用来并列knowing和turing的。

听大家的指点后，感觉这玩儿就跟文言文一样，其实不难，难在尼玛不打标点符号，文言文叫句读，标点符号都打上会好得多啊。

从语法角度讲，这个现在分词没有做从句的条件
从逻辑上讲，即使是蝼蚁也不会不在乎自己的生命，这里前后文结合起来可以看出这里的重点不是蝼蚁的意愿，重点在于角色阐述的这种随意剥夺他人性命而不用在乎其意愿的power，在乎性命却没用的对比更强烈
